We have a group of women who belong to Continental Arts and Crafts Club. It is our goal to offer crafts to all the residents at CCC. We do a variety of things and have many girls bring their crafts ideas to us; something for everyone. Our season runs from Nov to May, and we meet every Tues. from 9 to 12....with coffee always brewing and usually some delicious home made goodies.
Our latest project has been melting bottles. It's been a big hit and Connie Stevens has become our 'bottle lady'.. The ideas for decorating these items have been endless.
We make cards, jewelry, scarves, yard signs, we've learned folk art painting, make minature boxes....the crafts go on an on....it's been amazing how the non-crafters have joined in....
This year we decided to have a table at the annual craft fair, raising money for supplies and equipment for our projects, thus becoming more self-sufficient. Hopefully this will allow our craft club more funds for the numerous charities that they provide for.
Classes are also given in ceramics and stained glass, utilizing the ceramics building. Joan Civil handles the glass programs and Sue Beliveau is in charge of ceramics. I did find many of the ladies that came to Open Crafts and were renting for the season remark that they loved the idea of having something to 'do', while their partners were golfing, etc. I heard one woman remark that it was one of the few places that they had thought about buying into, that had so much to offer a retired woman.
