RALLY FOR THE CURE’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY
This year’s Rally will take place on Oct. 22nd on Hole #17 from 8 am – 5pm. This is a community event so let’s all get together and make it a memorable one! This is the 20th Anniversary for the Rally for a Cure and it will include a tribute to Wilma Tucker. For those of you who did not know her, Wilma was a breast cancer survivor and long time resident who was instrumental in helping with the Rally in every way she could.
Helen Fugate was the 1st Rally Ambassador followed by Nancy Thompson a few months later in 1997. Wilma was the Ambassador from 2000-2007. Before and after her “title”, she worked tirelessly with every one up until her passing this past summer. She will be deeply missed at this year’s event. Betty Stripling served as Ambassador from 2008-2011. She, also, works and supports every event.
The Rally Team will be out selling flowers for the Garden of Hope and Remembrance. This is a wonderful way to pay tribute to those we know and love who have fought this battle by purchasing a flower with his/her name proudly displayed in the garden.
The Rally will also include a chance to win a pair of golf shoes for “closest to the pin” on #17. The sign-up sheets will be posted in the Men’s and Women’s locker rooms. The cost is $20.00 which will include a goody bag, ball, if your drive lands on the green and your choice of a magazine as well as the chance to put your drive closest to the pin. You do not have to belong to an organization or play 18 holes. This is a one hole event5. Any cancer survivor of Continental is encouraged to come down to the Garden of Hope and Remembrance at 4 pm to have a group picture taken!
We welcome everyone! Come out and share the day with us and enjoy our beautiful Garden.
As always, if you have any questions call Cyndi Jones (330-4077), Pat Jenkins (255-4963), Cathie Main (748-6375) or Babs Dillow (748-0243.
