For over 25 years Continental Country Club has been as host to the Florida Professional Golf Tour’s Continental Open, featuring some of the top mini-tour players in the country. In the past, players like Don “Big Break” Donatello who tied our course record of 62 and Dave Rummells have played.
In 2008 this event became a charity event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. We have raised over $7,000 for the charity in the past 2 years. In 2013, over $5000 was raised to continue the battle to find a cure for cancer.
In 2009 80 pros came out to compete for prize money. The winner was Jhared Hack, who took home $3,000.
The Pro-Am portion of this event gives our members the opportunity to meet and play with the pros.
Special sponsor packages are available for individuals wishing to support the American Cancer Society and also have the opportunity to play in the event.
The FPGT Pro-Am was a tremendous success with 21 teams playing in the pro-am. Thank you to all of the residents that purchased tee signs for the pro-am. With your donations and the corporate sponsorships we were able to donate over $2,200 to Relay for Life. Winning this year’s Pro-Am was the team of: Joe Kolbe, Steve Goulette, Don Smith, Jack Shayne and their professional Pablo Mena-Medrano.
The FPGT Pro-Tournament had 86 golf professionals playing for $25,000 in prizes. This year’s winner was JD Tomlinson III with rounds of 66-64 taking home the winner’s check of $5,000. Second place went to Kevin Aylwin rounds of 65-66 taking home $2,800. Third place went to Hunter Green with rounds of 67-65, winning $1,400.
